23 May Lion’s Club International Convention
The Lion’s Club is the world’s largest service club organization, with over 1.4 million members worldwide. Born in Chicago in 1917, the Lion’s Club is hosting its annual conference, the Lion’s Club International Convention, or LCICON, in Chicago to celebrate its centennial year.
The Lion’s Club focuses on service programs, solving humanitarian crises, as well as engaging youth in community service and development; with an aim to safeguard the future of service programs via legislation at the local, regional, and national level.
More than 20,000 attendees are expected from over 120 countries this year. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit the Centennial Exhibit Hall at the McCormick Place Convention Center to explore the history and future of the organization through interactive and virtual displays. Join the Parade of Nations on Saturday, July 1st, 2017 or sit back and watch the parade floats as it travels through the city, with viewpoints on N. State Street between Lake and Van Buren in the Chicago Loop.
In true spirit of the Lion’s Club message, Lions can register to go above and beyond their duty by participating in Convention Service Projects with other members- sign up for various hands-on service projects at the convention center and around the beautiful city of Chicago.
Finally, if you have time, take advantage of the opportunity to visit the Lion’s Club International Headquarters in Oak Brook, IL, just 30 minutes West of the city of Chicago. Take a tour of the headquarters, and meet the many staff members who support the organization in its endeavors.
